Placental Cell Biology Group

We wouldn't be here without the placenta, the developing embryo's first organ. Our lab studies how the placenta develops and functions, using state-of-the-art cell biology approaches. This enables us to explore interventions to diagnose and treat complex pregnancy disorders of placental origin.

Pregnant Belly

Research

The placenta plays a major role in maintaining the proper environment for fetal growth but remains one of the least understood organs. Our lab uses a broad combination of tools to improve our knowledge of this important and fascinating organ.
